The first thing to do is identify what sort of demographics GB3 is aimed at. Then different marketing techniques can be applied to suit each of these.
IMO such a film would be typically be aimed at these kind of people.
What sort of marketing is going to be effective for each group?
Well the first two groups are more likely to know what films are on the horizon. These kind of people can be marketed to online pretty effectively, probably with teasers and the like 6 months in advance from release date.
Third category will need more in your face, mainstream marketing channels. TV spots and cinematic trailers before similar films will be fine. A month or two before release.
In terms of causing a real stir, best to focus on pre-existing fans to spread the news. It might be an idea to do some alt. marketing.
For example, something online which might go viral. Clues about the new film rather than obvious marketing.
Task Two
Your team works for a major advertising company, two large contracts have come in and you need to choose which one your team is most suited to. You will then need to fulfil the contract brief as described below.
I chose the first option:
You have been commissioned to produce the entire advertising campaign for the film Ghostbusters 3 to be released on July 4th 2013. The promotional campaign must start 12 months before the release of the film.
Design a campaign that will build and maintain interest in the film right up to the release date
Consider all outlets for promotional content

The instructions in the brief make no mention of explaining the assignment details, but I feel they are necessary to justify the blogging platform.
Out of the two briefs for the assignment I chose the following:
“Design a service that utilises video materials for online or mobile devices. Create the video materials and design diagrams for the functionality and aesthetics of the service.”

That is not to say that tumblr perfectly suits my needs. I would prefer the ability for people to discuss certain items directly (comments section) without having to reblog or message me privately. However, the pros outweigh the cons.
